The shock of blogs has hit me once again. After class last Monday, I couldn’t stop thinking about the impact of such an informal writing style. I feel that I have spent most of my time studying PR doing the complete opposite of what David Meermam Scott is saying in The New Rules of Marketing & PR. I understand that blogs will help target specific audiences in a simplistic way, but I like trying to think of unique ways to reach people. I think that is why I went into PR because I am a creative person and I think that I can be really inventive in this particular field. I think I need to do a little more research on blogging before I throw in the towel and come right out and say, “I hate it.”

Blogs are cool. I vote “Yay” When you write something people see it — even those you write about (like me).
I did traditional PR for a decade. It wasn’t until I started doing the stuff I write about in the book that I started to get press coverage. Now I get it all the time. Like this from CNN/IBD today http://tinyurl.com/2tskk8
